Greetings Wardancers, I hope that this day finds you as well as can be
expected.
I have been asked to explain why I am contending for the position of
Emir, and what my plans for the guild would be if elected. To answer the
first question, I believe that the out-guildings of Ivoria, Caius, and
Caarnonan without a complete and thorough investigation was an abuse of
power by our present Emir. Under Section 2A of the guild laws the
punishment for relations with magickers shall be, and I quote,
"Whosoever shall be convicted of this offence will be subject to an
internal investigation that may lead to the offender being outguilded."
In my opinion this law was disregarded, and a brash decision was made
that was again in my opinion not for the best of the guild. Aelg was put
into office to provide stability in the guild until another election
could be held. Outguilding two Secretaries and a Novice Aide is not
providing stability to the guild, and thus, I am dissatisfied with the
performance of Aelg as Emir, despite my respect for his skills in combat
and my respect for him as an individual.
I have watched this guild grow and flourish ever since I was a novice.
We have risen above other guilds to the first position according to
topguilds, and again, I have great respect for the character of the
people who make up this guild. The unfortunate side to my time here has
been the large amounts of, what I will call, guild-weakening events. Too
many times have I been sent tells as soon as I enter the realms of some
decision that has been made, or some act that has been committed that
has caused turmoil within the guild. The truth is, I've had enough. I
thought about not running for this election, letting older, more
experienced members of the guild decide the guild's fate for me, and
then the old adage of "if you want something done, do it yourself" came
to mind, and so, I plan on doing just that.
I believe that my love for this guild and its members will ensure that
the right choices are made for the guild, and not for personal gain. I
plan to continue the great progress that Aten had made in encouraging
growth within the guild. Many guilds are too stagnant in giving out
guild favours, yet the liberty that this guild has in that area is
incredibly enlightening; it encourages all members to continue to work
towards improving the in the guild. On this note I also plan on bringing
back some positions that were removed by Aten. I believe that giving
more people more responsibility within the guild will improve morale as
well as make the guild more efficient. By creating more leadership
positions, we create new leaders. With more leaders come more role
models for our younger dancers to aspire to become like.
The some of the positions I am considering bringing back are as follows:
Archivist: responsible for updating and ensuring that our scrolls are up
to date.
Hunt Master: In charge of finding bashing grounds.
Questor: In charge of listing quest locations and how to start them
indirectly.
Internal Affairs: deals with people causing problems within the guild,
and breaking guild law.
External Affairs: deals with other guilds causing trouble with our
younger members.
Not all of these positions will definitely be reintroduced, but they
will be discussed during the first Secretarial meeting, mentioned below.
A decision will then be made as to which ones will be beneficial to the
guild. I will strongly encourage many to be reintroduced, but in the end
it will be the guild's choice.
I believe the unity of this guild is one of our greatest strengths, and
I plan on doing everything I can to keep that trend going. More
Secretarial meetings will be called as on a regular basis, as well as
when issues arise, and the guild will be encouraged to send me any and
all ideas. I believe that by discussing these ideas with the Secretaries
we can vastly improve the communication system within the guild, as well
as the guild as a whole.
In closing, I'd like to reiterate that I am proud of this guild, and I
have the utmost faith in it, as well as its members. No matter who you
choose, I feel as though we will continue to flourish, and no matter
what happens I will do my best to help in that cause in any way
possible.
Please come to me with any questions you might have regarding my plans,
reasons, or anything else you can think of. I'd like to hear all of your
opinions on the matter, and all of the suggestions for the guild you can
muster.
Thank you for reading such a long post, and long live us, the
Wardancers.
In humble service,
Nerva Vuh'uni
