Public News Post #2913

The Cost of Pride

Written by: Desert Guardian, Kodo Ashtear, Disciple of the Blade
Date: Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

The Costs of Pride:
1. War
2. Broken relationships
3. Loss of homes
4. Needless bloodshed and hatred
5. Rebuilding and repair costs
6. Loss of credibility and respect

Oh, and apparently the costs of words are up there with the costs of
pride. Since 1 out of every 1.05 public news posts are nothing more than
a tangible form of the writer's inflated ego and pride, thousands of
gold are wasted instead of using that gold to improve city or council
defenses, or to set up a training program for inexperienced fighters
(Are you paying attention, Celidon?). Instead of clogging up the public
news with such meaningless banter, how about you put your gold towards
killing those you're ranting about here! There's an idea. I'll admit,
watching your coffers slowly drain is a good sight indeed, and even
better- nothing productive comes out of it. Personally, I'd rather you
all keep wasting your gold since I rarely read this news anyway. But
there are those in the past who have tried to stop your little verbal
wars because they were tired of it. I respect their efforts, so this is
for them. But if this receives a few replies of scorn or annoyance, I'll
have made a profit off this investment and your coffers will just keep
draining. Nothing could make me happier. And, if not, then I suppose
there really must be -some- common sense to be found among you.
So, in closing, please save the ears and eyes of those who couldn't care
less what you have to cry about. And in the process you'll be saving
gold! We all win. Who can argue with that?

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Ferinus, in the year 522 AD.

Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021
