Treaties and Half-Truths

Written by: Duchess Lalitana Chytovil, Wintermuse

What Antioch offered in return for peace was a set of terms frankly
unacceptable to the Duchy of the Five Towers. Between demands for
reparations and an admission of guilt for a war that was a long time in
coming, and far from unprovoked, the council could not in good
conscience accept the proffered terms without further negotiation.

Draven Acerbus, a Mukhtar of Antioch, spent month upon month outside of
the city mentally assaulting our citizens. He forced them to expound
upon the questionable "virtues" of living a life without the benefits of
magick - and let us not even mention the more unpleasant things he
threatened. Dagobert Qaqyesil attempted to raid the Duchy on multiple
occasions. Mukhtars Juran and Zerin participated in raids on the city of
Kinsarmar in the attempt to kill city officials.

Perhaps Arkaskarr has suffered. Perhaps Antioch has suffered. These
things were not unprovoked - the city of the sands did not peacefully
mind its business in a quiet quest for purity of mind and body.
Certainly Kinsarmar's citizens have suffered, for war is rarely
pleasant.

These things aside, to claim that I merely dismissed Mukhtar Juran's
terms out of hand is misleading at best and an utter lie at worst. The
council of Ereges decided not to accept the terms as presented to me
earlier in the month. We offered to negotiate - with the Farah, instead
of separately with Mukhtars who have somewhat disparate ideas of what
things constitute reasonable terms for a ceasefire or peace accord.
Kinsarmar is, even now, willing to negotiate with the Farah of Antioch.

The rest of Juran's words are merely the product of an addled mind - all
of Kinsarmar's leaders shed blood for the Duchy.
