24.3.8 Artifact Tradeins
Artifacts may be traded in, by the owner only. Upon trading in an artifact, you will receive Bound Credits that can only be used for yourself. They cannot be transferred to other players. Artifacts are traded in at 2/3 value, based on the current price of the artifact. If it sells for 300, you'll get 200 in trade. If it sells for 400, you'll get 266 in trade. And so forth. Note carefully: this is not what you paid for it! This is the price as reflected in the corresponding HELP ARTIFACTS file. CUSTOMISATION HAS NO TRADEIN VALUE ---------------------------------- The tradein value does not include any credit for customisations. The value or cost of customisations is lost when you trade in an item. This means if you get an item customised with a custom description, or if you get your item to reset to your inventory, or if you get your item set to non-decay, none of this will have any tradein value. LIMITATIONS ----------- Many things may not be traded in at all: - Pets may not be traded in. - Houses may not be traded in. - Artifacts purchased at auction may not be traded in. - Item customisations (non-decay, descriptions, reset) may not be traded in. Other exceptions may be added from time to time. Please be sure to check with Jeremy directly if there is any doubt. Commands: --------- The trade in process is mostly automatic. Some items may not be traded in this way. If this is the case, then please email Jeremy@imperian.com and request a tradein. All credits returned from tradein will be Bound Credits. ARTIFACT <item> VALUE - This command will give you the current worth of the artifact in credits. ARTIFACT <item> TRADEIN [CONFIRM] - This will take any item purchased for credits and trade it in for 2/3rds the current price, returning them to you as bound credits. It will not actually trade in unless you add the CONFIRM to the end. ARTIFACT REMOVE <type> TATTOO FROM ME [CONFIRM] - This command will remove any purchases tattoo from you, and return 2/3rds of the credits as bound credits. It will not actually trade in unless you add the confirm. ARTIFACT REMOVE ASP FROM <weapon> - This command will remove the asp effect from the weapon and return the bound credits to you. REMOVE COLLAR FROM <pet> [confirm] - If you have attached a collar to a pet, this will remove the collar and refund you 66 credits. The pet is not destroyed and it will act as any other normal pet. FORGET <tradeskill> - If you no longer wish to possess a tradeskill, you may forget the skill, refunding 50% of spent lessons and 66 credits. Designs you have created will still exist, but you will not be able to craft them. Example: --------- Jeremy purchases a Truesilver sabre for 350 credits. He also decides that he'd like to customise the description of the sword, which he does for 50 credits. Later, he decides that he wants to tradein his customised Truesilver sabre. He is given two-thirds value on his Truesilver sabre in bound credits. So Jeremy now has two-thirds of 350 (which is 233 bound credits) for use. The bound credits can be used on purchasing another artifact or can be converted into lessons used to learn further in his skills. Note that the cost of the customisation was not factored in to this transaction. Customisations may not be traded in, and do not affect tradein value.
